ADDENDUM – IATA DGR 51st Edition Effective March 2010Now the latest addendum to the current edition of the IATA DGR can be downloaded on the FIATA website www.fiata.com. The addendum is provided in English, German and Spanish. According to IATA a French addendum shall be available shortly. This addendum reflects changes recently advised in an addendum to the 2009-2010 edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions, some corrections to the IATA DGR, and some revised or added State and operator variations. E-AWB and Model agreement for EDI (IATA Recommended Practice 1670)FIATA supports the introduction of the e-AWB and encourages its members in countries where the e-AWB can be used (origin and destination country must have ratified Warsaw /YUL 4 or YUL99) to contact the airlines in order to switch from paper to electronic AWB as soon as feasible. Prior to the implementation of the e-AWB, the intermediary must sign an e-AWB agreement with his airline IATA and FIATA/AFI have agreed on a model agreement for electronic data interchange which has been published as a recommended practice (RP1670). This agreement can be amended as per the needs and requirements of both parties. This is a model agreement and FIATA is not in a position to check applicable laws in all possible countries of the world. Air freight as a competitive factor for the Swiss economySt Gallen University’s logistics management chair published in April the results of a scientific survey. It was conducted in 2009 and analysed airfreight’s role in the Swiss economy. The study is mainly based on the data provided by 217 industrial, commercial and logistics companies in Switzerland. It shows the central significance of Swiss airfreight activities for the national economy.
