ADDENDUM – IATA DGR 51st Edition Effective March 2010

Now the latest addendum to the current edition of the IATA DGR can be downloaded on the FIATA website www.fiata.com. The addendum is provided in English, German and Spanish. According to IATA a French addendum shall be available shortly.

This addendum reflects changes recently advised in an addendum to the 2009-2010 edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions, some corrections to the IATA DGR, and some revised or added State and operator variations.

E-AWB and Model agreement for EDI (IATA Recommended Practice 1670)

FIATA supports the introduction of the e-AWB and encourages its members in countries where the e-AWB can be used (origin and destination country must have ratified Warsaw /YUL 4 or YUL99) to contact the airlines in order to switch from paper to electronic AWB as soon as feasible. Prior to the implementation of the e-AWB, the intermediary must sign an e-AWB agreement with his airline
business partner.

IATA and FIATA/AFI have agreed on a model agreement for electronic data interchange which has been published as a recommended practice (RP1670).

This agreement can be amended as per the needs and requirements of both parties.

This is a model agreement and FIATA is not in a position to check applicable laws in all possible countries of the world. FIATA does
not take any legal responsibility whatsoever the consequences of signing the agreement.

In the view of AFI this is an agreement which is balanced and which takes the interests of both parties into account. It must however
be stressed that this is an agreement between individual carriers and individual forwarders. Forwarders should have the terms of the agreement checked by their legal advisors before signing it.

New regulation for Import Cargo to Argentina

FIATA has been informed by its member AAACI that the Argentinean Authorities have announced the enforcement of the new
regulation AFIP 2744/09 for all Import Cargo to Argentina effective 17 May, 2010 for the C.U.I.T. number resp. on 1 July, 2010
for the Customs Code number.

Updated FIATA Model Correspondent’s Agreement soon available

In 2004 the FIATA brochure “Model Correspondent’s Agreement” was presented and has helped our members to formalize and regulate the commercial relationship, service expectations and legal liabilities of the contracting parties. The updated brochure has again been written by Mr. Manual Vicens Matas (Spain), with the kind support of Prof. Jan Ramberg (Sweden). ABLM is convinced that all our members will find this new version as interesting and user friendly as the pervious one and will make good use of it.

It is foreseen to present the updated brochure at the upoming FIATA World Congress 2010 in October in Bangkok/Thailand.

Regulations for the import and export of wooden packaging ISPM 15 for the European Union

As from 19 March, 2010 “Methyl Bromide” is no longer permitted as an acceptable treatment for WPM. Certificates of treatment after
this date may not be acceptable to certain destinations as per EU Commission Decision of 18 September, 2008 concerning the non-inclusion of methyl bromide in Annex I to Council Directive 91/414/EEC, and the withdrawal of authorizations for plant protection
products containing that substance.

Air freight as a competitive factor for the Swiss economy

St Gallen University’s logistics management chair published in April the results of a scientific survey. It was conducted in 2009 and analysed airfreight’s role in the Swiss economy. The study is mainly based on the data provided by 217 industrial, commercial and logistics companies in Switzerland. It shows the central significance of Swiss airfreight activities for the national economy.

Some of the key findings of the study are:

· Air cargo is an essential and daily element of Swiss value chains.

· 70% of Swiss companies regard airfreight in Switzerland as a basic necessity.

· One-third of Switzerland’s exports by value leave Switzerland by air, and one-sixth of all imports, again measured by value,
enter the country by air.

· 61% of the shippers and 44% of the recipients of air cargo expect a substantial increase in their shipments through Swiss
airports by 2030. Swiss companies wish to see further development of the infrastructure at Swiss airports to improve the
handling of air cargo during peak times, and expansion of the capacity for temperature-controlled imports and valuables
exports.
