How to Become a Member?


The criteria for membership of the Association are that a company should:

  • Be actively involved in international freight forwarding for not less than one year in Sri Lanka and having a minimum paid up capital of Rs. 1,000,000.00.
  • Have on its staff a person in the capacity of a Director or General Manager who has a minimum of five years experience in the field of international freight forwarding.
  • Have been registered as an international freight forwarder with Exchange Control Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
  • Have obtained forwarders all liability insurance cover from a recognized insurance company.
    - Legal Liability USD 100,000/- (LKR 10,000,000/-)
    - Errors & Omissions USD 50,000/- (LKR 5,000,000/-)

An application for membership should include:

  • Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Organization
  • Certification of Paid up Capital from applicant’s auditors
  • Original copies of all B/L and negotiable documents currently issued
  • Documents confirming the registration with Exchange Control Department and Liability Insurance Coverage.
  • Letter from Principals, if any, confirming the relationship
  • References from two SLFFA Members ,of which one should be from the Executive Committee
