A delegation of the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA), led by the Chairman, paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Director General of Merchant Shipping (DGMS), Mr R P Jinesh Rajapaksha, on 7th August 2026 at his office.
The meeting provided an opportunity for SLFFA to extend its congratulations and best wishes to the Director General on his appointment and to discuss matters of mutual interest concerning Sri Lanka’s maritime, logistics and freight forwarding sectors.
During the meeting, the SLFFA delegation highlighted the important role played by the freight forwarding and logistics industry in facilitating international trade and supporting the growth and competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s maritime sector. The delegation also emphasized the importance of close cooperation and regular dialogue between the industry and the Merchant Shipping Secretariat to address emerging challenges and further improve the efficiency of maritime-related services.
The SLFFA Chairman reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to working closely with the Merchant Shipping Secretariat and other relevant authorities to support initiatives that contribute to the development of Sri Lanka as a competitive regional logistics and maritime hub.
The courtesy call concluded on a positive note, with both SLFFA and the Merchant Shipping Secretariat expressing their commitment to fostering stronger cooperation for the benefit of the maritime, logistics and freight forwarding sectors and the wider national economy.
